Sr-89 is among the most effective modern therapeutic agents for palliative treatment of patients with metastatic tumors in the prostate, breast, kidneys and lungs. 89Sr is also used as an alternative to (or supplement of) external beam therapy for managing pain syndrome in bone cancer.
